2010 - Commitment to Change

With the New Year and new decade here, it is important to take a hard look at ourselves and evaluate our past, focus on our present, and rededicate our future goals to fulfilling endeavors built around our passions. It goes without saying that, for many, the last few years have been among the most challenging. The massive shift in our economic consciousness, brought on by record unemployment and devaluation of personal wealth, brings with it some of the greatest opportunities to recreate you.

Years ago, a good friend and mentor told me about the "Drivers License" test. It has many names and you might affect it in some other way with some other device, but ultimately it is simply taking a look at yourself and deciding if what you are looking at (a picture of yourself) is something you are proud of. If it isn't, then you have taken the first step in committing to change.

Once you have decided to make a difference in yourself, choose goals that are attainable then measure and monitor constantly. As you build momentum and "win", celebrate the accomplishment, and then set the next goal.

The ways we go about this over the next few weeks, months, or years will be different for each of us. The important thing to remember is that your personal and professional happiness is yours. Don't let anyone take or divert you from that. Live in the faith, character, and grace given to you by GOD!
